Mel Schatz, President and CEO
Mel has spent over 30 years in the healthcare field. He spent 10 years in a variety of sales and marketing positions with Marion Laboratories. During a 15 year period at Abbott Laboratories, he held senior management positions with the Diagnostic Division, including 7 years in Japan, where he held the position of Vice President, Asia Area. From 1997-2001, he managed Medtronic’s Peripheral Vascular business that included responsibility for the AneuRx
® AAA device. He was formerly President and CEO of Bacchus Vascular Inc., prior to joining Crux Biomedical. He holds a BS in Economics from the U. of Maryland and an MBA from Rockhurst College.
Eric Johnson, V.P. of R&D
Eric previously worked in the endovascular division
of Medtronic Vascular as a Sr. Research and Development Engineer for 5 years on key development projects for the AneuRx abdominal aortic aneurysm stent graft. He holds a BA in Biology from Colby College and a MS in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.
Murli Srinivasan, Director of Operations
Murli has over 12 years of experience in the medical device field in a variety of engineering and manufacturing management positions. He was previously employed at Evalve Inc. (a developer of a new cardiovascular therapy) and W.L. Gore & Associates. Murli holds a MS degree in Industrial Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a BS degree in Engineering from Bangalore University.
Roberta Hines, Regulatory/Clinical Consultant
Roberta is President of Northwest Clinical Research Group, a CRO company, headquarted in Redmond, Washington. Roberta has been a successful regulatory affairs professional for the past 27 years. In addition to her regulatory experience, she has extensive management and coordination of activities in both clinical affairs and quality assurance. Her experience and company have managed both domestic and international clinical studies and consulting. Roberta has worked previously at Edwards Lifesciences and other manufacturers of class II and class III devices.
Chris Schaffer, Acting CFO
Chris is currently CFO of Fogarty Engineering. In this role he supports several start-ups, including Crux Biomedical and the recently formed Emergent Medical Venture Fund. He served as CFO of Sleep Solutions, a privately held firm in the sleep apnea arena. He spent 4 years at Arthur Andersen prior to Sleep Solutions. Chris has his CPA and BA in Business from Bowling Green University.
